Hi,

I have recently taken up permanent residence in in Northern Ireland, but continue to work in the Republic as a PAYE employee. I'd appreciate if anyone could advise if there are any disadvantages from a tax perspective arising from this arrangement or indeed what the impact is on my qualification for a state pension (albeit some years away). Thanks in advance.

I have a few friends in this position - seems to be no adverse effects from what i can see. Some small issues:

- you are not eligible to hold an SSIA
- you qualify for National Health Service benefits in NI

Dunno about pensions - logically you are building up your contribution record so you should qualify - worth asking the Dept of Social/Family affairs, though, just to be sure!
