Moving office

The company we have worked for ten years, have decided to move office.
At the moment we are in the middle of a city in the south east.
Easy for lunch and other small errands around town as most people get dropped off for work.
They intend to move to a businness park 3 miles outside the city.
Are we entitled to any compensation for moving or is that at the decression of the company
 
You are not entitled to any compensation - its entirely at the discretion of the company (I'm assuming this is a private sector company).

Wouldn't hurt to ask for something, though ;)
 
Redstar is correct, you are not legally entitled to any compensation for a move as such.
However there is an arguement that can be made for compensation if you have lost certain benifits as a result of the move, eg office canteen, (nippng round to M&S for a sandwich wouldn't count). I've also heard stories of staff who are unable to move due to an inability to get to the new site, being ruked as construcitvely dismissed and entitled to compensation as a result. Not sure how through these are
You won't get anything if you don't ask and much and if you are in a union, you should ask them for advice
 
I think they would obliged to offer you redundancy if they move more than 20 miles.
 
Sorry to bump up an old thread, but does anyone know for certain what the situation is regarding a company moving to a new office, in another part of the city?
 
Well there are two different versions... you won't get anything and you might get something if it's more than 20 miles.

Citizensinformation.ie doesn't seem to have any information on this.
