I have been advised that car bought March 2008 can be taxed on lower of engine size or emissions- how do i change car tax- as I initially taxed on engine- as rules did not come into force until July 2008 and I paid on engine size since.

Thanks

When the tax was first renewed the owner would have been given the option to tax on engine size or CO2 whichever was the cheapest. Therefore if you are still paying on engine size it should be because its cheaper for you. Whats the car btw?

Not sure if missed that- just got reminder with higher rate and kep paying- its volvo and dual fuel engine etc so environmentally friendly!

talk to your local motor tax office. think you should be able to get the co2 rate..and probably cheaper .

Is it a S40 1.8F? If so it appears it's not so environmentally friendly with CO2 emmisions of 177 meaning annual road tax of €630.

Based on engine size tax would be €551.

According to this CO2 emmisions are 177 therefore annual road tax of €630.

It might be better/greener but it appears its not so cheap to tax!
