Hi

I found myself in the situation where I was stopped by the Gardai for not having my insurance disc displayed in the windscreen. Due to forgetfulness, after receiving it in the post some months ago I had never put it in the car.

Is this a penalty point offence or a fine? I was given 10 days to produce the insurance cert in the station, which I have done, but don't know if that is the end of the matter.

If you produce you're insurance certificate at the garda station I would expect that will be the end of it.

Yes you are guilty of "Failing to display your insurance disc". If you have produced a valid certificate of insurance as required it is highly unlikely you will hear anything more about it.

Technically it's a fine not exceeding €60. No penalty points as it's not a motoring offence per se.
