Most Reliable Email Address To Get

I'm having problems using the Gmail A/C I set up about a year ago. I posted a question on it here & got some feedback on it. I also posted the same question on the Outlook Forum (I take all my mails in via Outlook) The impression I got from there was that the problem is that Gmail is still in Beta Form and that is still not very reliable. I used to have an O2 a/c but once I moved to 3, that was cancelled. I use Hotmail on and off & prefer just using it when some site or other requires some valid email address. I was about to sign up for a Campus A/C but notice that it only gives you 25MB email space. Before signing up for another a/c & moving again in 6 months, maybe someone could tell me the best one (preferably free) to get.

If you are having problems with Gmail then I suspect that the cause is most likely at your own end rather than with their service. If this is the case then maybe you need to sort out any local issues otherwise any email address may prove unreliable? My main private address is still a Hotmail one that I got years ago which I connect to mainly with Outlook Express. No frills but it does the job and is generally reliable enough for my purposes.

I hear 'ya!
Everything was going swimmingly until 2 months ago. All of a sudden it's messed up. If it was as simple as not being able to send mails alltogether at least I'd know it was probably just my settings. The fact that I can send a few & then it gives up the ghost makes it a bit harder. I'll try editing my account in outlook and see what happens.

Went into my Email Account Settings & Sent A Test Message
It didn't work & asked me to go to "More Settings" & in turn the "Advanced" Tab to check SSL connections.
Maybe someone could tell me if their Gmail setting is the same as mine?
Incoming Server is 995 while the Outgoing Server is 465 with both requiring encrypted connection.

I noticed that ClubMan wrote earlier
"No - it ceased being a beta a long time ago"
I logged onto the Gmail WebPage Earlier & noticed that it says "Gmail By Google - Beta" quite clearly on the top left hand side.
Perhaps there are only a tiny portion of people affected by their glitches - unfortuanetly I may be one of them.

Sorry - you are correct. It still says beta. I was sure that they had gone "live" a while back.

I would advise you to lose Outlook Express as it's a magnet for viruses.

Download Mozilla Thunderbird and you will love it. It's free too so no reason not to :)

I tried it with the Hotmail webmail plugin a while ago for a while but didn't like it at all and reverted to OE for Hotmail. I might give it a go again but I don't expect it to do what OE does easily. I have had no security problems with OE but to run a full suite of security tools and do take certain precautions (e.g. configure Hotmail to deliver only email from exclusive addresses to my inbox, switched off preview pane, take care when reviewing junk mail for false positives etc.).

G-Mail is still perfecting the technology that adjusts the advertising according to the content of your e-mails.
