Hi there,

im looking to find out some information for my current partner who is having difficulty with an ex. The relationship ended and his ex took care of all the bills and bank accounts. They have a joint mortgage and joint bank account, she has went to see a financial advisor and refused to let my him be there to see what the next step was to getting everything split, he wants to split everything and sell up but she wants him to pay half the mortgage for the next year to avoid extra charges. Can he get his name taken of the mortgage as he no longer lives there or do they both need to come to an agreement? if so how would he go about getting things into action? please help

No he cannot just take his name off the mortgage. He is jointly and severally liable for the debt.

They need to come to some arrangement together. Is there negative equity, is she living there, could she raise a mortgage on her own to release him?
