Hi all,

Firstly have very limited knowledge when it comes to taxation etc so please excuse any silly questions.

Husband and I married in May 2008 but are still taxed as single persons.

My salary is €34,500 and husband €60,000.

My husband pays the mortgate and receives mortgage interest relief - if we now declare ourselves to revenue as married would we receive rebate from when married for interest relief that i would be due?

Not sure if i have provided sufficient info, please advise if more needed.

Many thanks.

Its highly likely for TRS purposes that your husband would have had to declare that we was married ..you should check this out. The amount he gets will tell you whether this si the case or not. There is a [controversial] 4 year rule applying with Revenue so dont dilly dally
