Mortgage from another EU country

Considering the lower interest rates available in other EU countries, is it possible to get a mortgage from another EU country for an Irish property - for an Irish resident?

No.

The legal requirements and practices are so varied, that no overseas lender offers mortgages in Ireland.

The Mortgage Credit Directive has been passed recently and is due to go into law in Ireland within about a year. Its objective is to help create a single market, but I doubt if it will.
