mondeo fuel pump at 100k

i called into my local ford garage recently to get a steering problem checked out;seems its a steering rack problem but was told it wasnt anything major.when the mechanic looked at the mileage which was at 102k he said i would probably soon be investing in a fuel pump,about 3 weeks later the car started spluttering and eventually pulled up fuel pump was gone.500 euros later im back on the road.20td zetec model so just be warned mondeo drivers

id be a bit wary of that mainly becase a fuel pump for that car is nearly 900 plus vat less fitting and the other auxillary fuel pump which is mounted outside the fuel tank which always go around 50k is just over 500 euro so a bit on the cheapside if it was done
