Mice! Help

[Caveat]

There actually seems to be more shrews around our way than mice - or maybe is it that their reputation for aggression (first time I've heard that Mathepac) presents more of a challenge to the cats?

Some of the mice I fear may actually be young rats too - likely this time of year? hard to tell sometimes but the very 'ropey' tails, prominent incisors and larger paws lead me to think so.

For many years we had mice coming in I think via the wall cavity at about this time of year onwards. We bought one of those sonic thingys and have never seen or heard a mouse since.
I think the trick is to buy an industrial one. This one covers (supposidly) 5000 sq. feet. Needless to say our house is not 5000 sq.ft. More like 1700
