Just a quickie (as there have been numerous posts on the MED1 question). If I pay most of my tax at 20%, but a very small amount at 42%, do I still get a refund at 42% (it being my highest rate of tax)?
You will get 42% relief to the extent that you paid 42% tax and 20% on any remaining expenses once any 42% tax deducted has been refunded. You will never get 42% relief on income on which you only paid 20% tax.
