Quick one on the sensitive topic of maternity payments. If an employee is on maternity and only in receipt of social benefit, does this weekly social benefit payment need to be taxed through the employers payroll?
I have had a couple of people on payroll who when on maternity leave in recent years since MB became taxable. Those cases have been dealt with by a new P2C being issued from Revenue (not requested) in the year they return to work with reduced tax credits and cut off point to allow for the MB payment.
