Hello, I am due to go on maternity leave soon and while it was mentioned in passing that I would be covered during my leave, this hasn't happened yet. I suddenly got an email (to my personal email) from an online recruiter with my job advertised. The description is exactly my job but there is no mention of it being a maternity leave cover or time-limited in any way.
Where does this leave me and what's the best way to approach this?

If you've a good relationship with you manager then by all means ask them about it.

They are obliged to take you back to the same or a similar role at the end of your leave. This does not preclude them from hiring someone permanent into your role while you are out. There may be expansion plans in the pipeline, or other changes they are preparing for such as another person in a similar role leaving the company or who is expected to move to a new role over that time. Job specs aren't always 100% accurate, and are at time broad so as to attract a range of applicants.
