Married person tax credit when not earning very much

My first post and I know this has been asked a couple of times, but I cant seem to find an answer that is relevant to our situation.
My other half is out of work and is getting illness benefit. This is a serious illness and she will suffer for life because of this. She does however wish to return to work when she is feeling better however this will be in the future. For now. I do not earn a lot (low 20's) and we are taxed at the moment as non married. What I am wondering is, would it make much of a difference to be taxed as married people. I currently pay about €60 paye and prsi so although not much we have a small child and every little helps if we could make a saving.
If anyone can point me in the direction of where I could find an online calculator or something that would be great. Anything I can find seems to be out of date and revenue site is very hard to get your head around.
 
Getting married would be worth a max €1,650 to you each year as this is the only tax credit that your partner could transfer to you when you get married. Depending on the amount of illness benefit received, it could be even less than that.

Apologies, perhaps my post doesn't read right. We are married. And have been for over two years however I am still taxed as a single person and I was wondering if it would be worthwhile letting revenue know we are married (would it make any difference) She was always the main earner but now it is just not possible for her to work.
 
Yeah I assumed you weren't married. You should always opt to be taxed jointly as you can't pay any more tax by being taxed jointly than you would if you were taxed as separate persons.

Figures above still stand. You may be due money back for previous years too so make sure to check those too
