Hi,

I'm thinking of starting investing in lumps sums in equities. I will start with possibly €5k - €10k depending on the minimum the provider will allow you to open the account with (I think the €10k should give me access to all the providers).

I've read the best buys as well as through various threads and am overwhelmed with information.

http://www.askaboutmoney.com/showthread.php?t=37142 lists all the best buys. I know Quinn Life is highly regarded but I think with my desired strategy of saving up and placing installments, e.g. of €5k, at a time will give me the opportunity to get a reduction of the costs. Therefore, to achieve this I have eliminated all the funds with charges of 1% or higher (I've also eliminated Rabo because only one fund charges the 0.7%)

This leaves us with MyAdviser and Bond.ie from the above thread:

MyAdviser: New Ireland have a good offer on the above thread but can't find details on their site about the AMC being only 0.75%. The site seems to mention a typical 1% AMC.

http://www.bond.ie offer 22 funds at a 0.9% AMC and up to 12 free fund switches per year.

From http://www.askaboutmoney.com/showthread.php?t=51135&page=3 I also notice Labrokers offer - a 3.5% extra allocation and 1% AMC for a one-off €150. This means that if I invest €10k, they will invest €10,350 and charge me €150 - a saving of €200 (or 2%). This effectively reduces the AMC to 0.6% over a typical 5 year period. Does anyone have a policy with these and, if so, can you give some details?

I can't give you any info, but will just add that I have searched long and hard for unit-linked investment funds with AMCs under 1%. They are rare, and it's not easy to get info.
