Lough Derg

Anyone know anything about hiring a boat on Lough Derg?
Know nothing about sailing, rowing etc. Can swim though.
Was thinking of a "rowing" boat (my boyfriend doing the rowing of course - also a novice)
Are there specific locations around the lake that cater for this?

Doesn't sound very safe to me, given the number of deaths that occur in water-based accidents.

In Killaloe by the bridge there is a guy that rents a rowing boat (lake boat) with an engine, I don't have contact details for him he is behind the library.

If you want to rent a cruiser for a few days Emerald Star are in Portumna and 2 other bases along the river Shannon.
