My son intends looking for work in Brussels, he's at present on Job Seekers' Benefit here.
Is there a scheme which allows him to continue receiving JSB for a few weeks while searching?
Thanks for any help received.

Before he goes, he should apply for a transfer of his JB for payment over there. He can transfer up to 78 days JB but he should make sure everything is organised before he goes. See (c) and (d) here

Thank you so much for that information, Welfarite.
You're a gem!

Sorry, I goofed!

It's Job Seekers' ALLOWANCE he's getting, Not JS Benefit.
Do the same regulations apply?

Thanks again.

JSA cannot be transferred abroad but he could apply for two weeks holidays and search for work while he is on holidays.

Just to point out that if your son applies for 2 weeks hols on Jobseeker's allowance, payment is only made when he signs back on again after the 2 weeks. If he doesn't check back with the SW office, no payment will be made on his claim.

That's fair enough, gipimann, will pass that on, too.
Thanks so much for the replies.
