Ny one have dealing with above? Tenant called out them to open door and change lock (ordinary lock - union small key on wooden door). Work was done during the day - not at a weekend- and tenant was charged 330!! Subsequently deducted from the rent.

Am wondering is there an association I can complain to?

I think this question is in the wrong forum it should be in Property investment.

I don't know of anybody you could complain to but I can tell you, never let a tenant take money from the rent.

Did you give them permission to take it from the rent if not get other esrimates and compare them get an average and let them remove that amount.
 
Sorry should have been more specific.

Tenant called on sat to say that lock was broken. He could not get into the flat. I said call out a locksmith and Id cover the cost. I know I would probarbly have to pay a little extra for Saturday ...... but that much??

Ive had reason to use locksmiths before and normally pay 75 for a normal opening which includes a new nightlatch lock. Id have expected to pay about 100 for saturday.

I think this guy took advantage of the situation, the tenant a German student would not have known if the price was too high or not.

Call the company up and ask the questions.

How long was he on site, what time did he arrive, what type of lock did he install, how much did it cost, how far away was he from the flat?

Its all very well giving out about a company but we have not heard their side of the story yet.

However I do think €330 is a bit much for opening a lock and fitting a new one.
 
I called the owner (or the business) Could have been a worker I spoke to. Basicaly told me that this was the price full stop.

In the meantime I found the attached link to the advertising standards web site


If you scroll down you can see that a complaint made about them was upheld.
