Lockable Fridge for Coffee Shop

We are setting up a small Coffee Shop. We looked around a few retailers for a typical domestic type fridge or fridge freezer (around 600 euro). They will all perfect for our needs, but in the case of our shop, we would prefer to be able to lock it during evenings/ weekends, etc.

Can anyone help?

Attach a lock to side of door i.e. a hinge/flap type thing with a padlock. Available in any hardware shop.

Hi

Thanks for that info. Is it easy to do?

We don't want to damage the fridge. Most freezers have an inbuilt lock.

Drilling holes in a fridge is a sure way to break it! A domestic fridge will surely not be up to the wear and tear of a commercial environment. Buy one that is suited to the environment.

Be very careful when drilling the side of the fridge you dont pierce any coils, and use pop rivets to attach the hasp.

A self fitted lock held on by pop rivets can easily be removed. Better to get a proper industrial strength appliance with a fitted industrial strength locking mechanism.

I taught we were talking about a small little coffee shop here, not the central bank. Belive me clubman, if you have to go to that amount of trouble to lock up a bit of food, i cant see it been too sucessful.

Not quite Fort Knox we are trying to secure my friends. But as other people would have general access to our storage areas, etc we would like to have confidence that nobody could touch our fresh foods etc. during evenings/ weekends.

Maybe the only option is some specialised commercial type fridge? But given that the regular type freezer has a lock, we thought somebody might know if something similar existed for fridges (or if something could be attached, etc).

Btw enjoy the Paddy's Day weekend everyone.:)

One can only go on the basis of the information previously posted. CafeCulture wanted a lockable fridge/freezer. If a lock is required then it should do the job of securing the appliance.

Every fridge or freezer we saw in South Africa had locks built in at the manufacturing stage. We were told it was to stop the staff from stealing the food!
Never locked ours as we thought if our maid was hungry we would have been mortified.

Indeed - one would indeed be mortified if one's maid was starving. Imagine what the neighbours would say?

You could lock the maid in a cupboard. Especially if she was an illegal immigrant.

I'm going to be kicked off this site, I know I am.....

Hi folks. Please do not use this particular post for un-necessary jokes. There are other forums available...

Many thanks
