Hi, looking for any recommendations for online lighting suppliers. Need to kit out a new build and looking at lighting surprised by how much involved!! Thought perhaps this is a prime opportunity to buy online and hopefully save!! Any pointers much appreciated. Tks Sab
 
try ebay -- that is the best pointer online. Otherwise how about IKEA ?
 
Do you know what type of lighting you want. There are now so many bulb types with different fittings and different characteristics. For a new build, you should ensure that you have maximum energy efficiency at reasonable cost. My guess is that this will come in the next year or so in GU10-type LED bulbs which are currently very expensive for good quality bulbs (typically €10+), but will rapidly reduce. Another good format is the D-type 28w.
 
Thanks for pointers mercman - me and ebay have never really hit it off - i always seem to want stuff from uk that can't be shipped etc., but will look at the lighting section and maybe give it another go. Gulliver have looked at no. of pendants/spots needed and where but not type of bulbs so thanks for the info i will look into in more detail.
 
I buy all my lamps/bulbs for our offices and buildings here - a great service from an Irish company.
