Life Life insurance when emigrating to US next year?

My son is 25 years old, just married, no medical issues, finishing a Master's. Planning to work here for a year then move to US (legally) in Feb 2019. Looking to take out life ins - 10 years, level term, 50k, no indexation, conversion, waivers, or SI cover needed. Simple policy - you would think. But...

Can't find life insurance to take out now. One of two catches seems to apply:
1. covers EU residence only, holidays to US < 3 months allowed but not moving there to live.
2. minimum term of any policy we could find is two years.

Can anyone help with either
a) min term 1 year policy (then cancel and take out another over there)?
or
b) policy that would cover him here and/or US?
or
c) another solution

Thanks to all the experienced heads here for any pointers.

Most standard insurers would follow the conditions you have noted above. Check out Pulse insurance (sold through a broker. A UK based company but sell via some Irish brokers). They will normally offer a non standard life policy up to 10 years so should be able to offer you/him this.
