Life insurance - switching provider

I want to start shopping around for quotes and I understand I need to compare like with like so first step is probably to go down through my existing policy and get up to speed with the various buzz words. One thing I've noticed with the online quotes is that there is no family history health check. In my case, both parents died from cancer so I'm paying more than your typical Joe/Josephine.

Are there any bells and whistles I should ignore from the various providers? And, should I switch, what kind of steps are typically required to switch provider?

Often the online quotes are only based on a subset of the information that you will ultimately have to fill in when you get the paper forms.

term life 280k over 25 years
annual premium 600 ish

refund 300 ish

broker commission
600 ish up front + 17 p.a. for 25 years = just over 1000
that leaves him with about 700 commission against 300 discount for me

I can also recommend John Geraghty on www.labrokers.ie

I have history of serious illness and he got very competitive quote versus what I could get myself. Plus, he refunded most of first year's premium.
