Been reading some of the threads on here and how cover can be loaded or refused because people have various illnesses, diabetes etc.

Does anyone know what the position is for someone in their 40s who had a stroke more yhan 20 years ago with no lasting effects or impact on their life ? Or is stroke simply a bad word in the life insurance business i.e. is cover likely to be refused in such circumstances ?

The best advice i can give you is to contact a broker. But if they have made a full recovery and are just looking for lifecover ,(mortgage protection),i cant see a loading involved, but it will come down to the life assurance company themselves.Try www.firststep.ie or www.labrokers.ie

The only way to know is to propose, or speak to a professional who has access to a life underwriter.

I'm not a medical type but I would imagine that there might be concerns:

1/. Chance of another stroke? A stroke in your 20's is rare I'd have thought.
2/. Was the stroke a symptom of anything else?

Best of luck and I hope you get accepted at normal rates.
