Life cover for mortgage

My wife is getting the house remortgaged and needs to get mortgage life insurance. The trouble is she is diabetic (type 2) and overweight. Do you think it will be possible for her to get cover from any company? Also she would like to avoid having to go to medicals if at all possible? She has no objections to them talking to her doctors etc.

Also I am aware that the bank can allow you to get a mortgage without life cover if you cannot get cover. How many refusals do you need before you can invoke this?

Anyone able to shed some light of any of this?

Regards

I don't think you can invoke this. It's up to the lender whether they will oblige or not. The last time I needed a medical for insurance the company allowed my own doctor to carry it out.

Some companies let your own GP carry out the medical and some do not. Either way, its highly unlikely that she won't have to do one.
