Letting Agents and 'open-house' showing of apt for rent?

I contacted a letting agent through Daft in relation to an apt for rent in the city centre. I was looking to find out about organising viewing.

The agent emailed back to say they are showing the apt at lunchtime tomorrow and to confirm if I will be there.

Is it standard practice to organise an 'open-house' showing like this? Is it due to demand (i.e. agent won't have to make multiple trips to the property to show various interested parties?).

Varies from agent to agent but at times of high demand it would be commonplace from my own experience.

Probably also a sensible thing to do, chances are the current occupiers (if any) will be out and chances are several people would request to view at lunch or immediately after work so it makes sense to just use the time optimally for everyone.
