Not sure if this is the correct forum to post this ... apologies if not.

I received a letter today from the Collector General addressed to a company that I never heard of.

I searched for the company name and from what I saw on the opencorporates.com web site, this company was dissolved in August 2018.

What should I do with the letter? Should I:

1. Bin the letter.
2. Call the Collector General and try to get to talk to somebody to let them know that the address they have is incorrect.
3. Just return it to the Collector General.
4. Anything else?

Thanks!

Return to sender.

It may not be illegal to open a letter not intended for you, but it is certainly very poor behaviour.

“I gave a letter to the postman
He put it in his sack
Bright early next morning
He brought my letter back

Return to sender, address unknown
No such number, no such zone
We had a quarrel, a lover's spat
I write I'm sorry, but my letter keeps coming back.”
