I have recently moved out of my home to look after a relative. I m now looking into letting my home, a 2-bedroom apartment, for the first time. After deducting mortgage interest from expected rental repayments I will be left with about 1000 euros per month. I understand that I will have to pay tax on this and this will leave me with about 600 euros per month.
If I let out one room under the "rent a room" @ 635 euros per month it looks like I wouldn't have to pay any tax.
Would I really be better off renting a room than renting an apartment? Am I missing something here?
