I'm currently updating my will. I intend to leave my share portfolio, cash and some proceeds of house sales to two international charities, both large, charitable organisations involved in protecting the Natural Environment. I'm wondering if anyone knows, given their charitable status but not being Irish, will they be liable for a kind of inheritance tax?

Revenue.ie says charitable purposes may be inside or outside the state.

But if it's a significant amount of money, you might like to get a confirmation from Revenue.

Hi horus

This would depend on where the charity is based. I don't think it has anything to do with the Irish legislation.

Okay, thanks guys. I kinda suspected it might be okay. One is based in the US and the other I'm not sure as it involves the Rain Forests, but I'll do a bit more digging.
