hi, Leaving job at end of November for stress reasons - simply can't take it anymore and also may be starting a family! It will simple be a case of me handing in my notice having worked there for 7 years, so when will I be entitled to welfare assistance?? My husband is employed and will hopefully be able to sustain the loss in income...

If you are leaving the job to claim JB you may be disqualified for up to 9 weeks if you leave employment without good reason. Also, if you are leaving for stress reasons - for JB they could say that you are not available for or genuinely seeking work or fit for work - so you may have to go down the route of illness benefit - but you would have to meet that medical criteria.

Before you make a final decision would you have a chat with your doctor and ask his advice. Perhaps he may suggest some time out on Illness Benefit while you can make a clearer decision without the stress.
Use this time to look around for something else or perhaps part-time
