LCD TV showing grey screen

I've had a phillips LCD TV for a few months and suddenly the screen has gone grey. I've tried switching it on and off and none of the buttons do anything. Just a grey screen. Anyone else had this or know how to fix it.

Otherwise I'll put my boot through it and claim it on the house insurance!!!!!!
 
Backlight (or is it the inverter?) gone perhaps? Unless it's just a loose connection that you can find and sort out it could be serious (i.e. junk). Have you tried searching for info about this make/model in particular and diagnosing and fixing this sort of problem in general?
 
Could you not take it back to the person or shop you purchased it from, if its only a few months old you should be entitled to a repair or a replacement unit.
