Renewal €1,535.46 per adult: an increase of 12% on 2020. Any suggestions for a less expensive alternative? The priority is full cover for orthopeadic and ophthalmic. Semi-private accomodation. Day to day medical expenses not a priority. Two adults, early 60's excellent general health.

That's a huge jump, it wasn't that long ago that particularly was only around 100 euro a month. Have a look at Laya simple connect, it seems to tick all your boxes at 108 a month.

Total Health Plus looks v similar to Simplicity, but I can't tell from the HIA site or LAYA site what its price will be for 2021.
At the moment it is showing as €1380 but then Simplicity is also showing on its old price.

However, then I noticed this on the HIA website:
From the 1st of December, a shortfall of 20% will now apply to specific Orthopaedic and Ophthalmic procedures in all private hospitals on the following plans: Simply Health Plus, Total Health Plus.

Hi all,

We have benefited greatly from advice offered here over the past few years. We are also on Simplicity and due to renew on January 1st 2021.

We are a couple in our very late sixties and were delighted with our current plan but the proposed increase has made us review our cover for the coming year.

Control Create 300 is coming in at under €1300 per person.

One of the disadvantages of this plan is that there are higher inpatient excesses. However these excesses are offset by having only €1 excess on day to day expenses. As a couple we had to spend €400 before we were eligible to claim back anything with Simplicity.

Connect Care 150
is coming in at nearly the same price as Simplicity for 2021 however the day to day excess is €1 which effectively means it is €100 per person cheaper than Simplicity with almost the same benefits

These plans also offer full cover for orthopaedic and ophthalmic procedures

Both these plans offer alternatives to Simplicity without the same outlay.

I hope this is helpful.

Here's a tip for comparing plans.

If you login to your Laya member area, and go to the renewals section, you can compare your current plan to another Laya plan and tick 'show differences only'.

Thank you, odyssey. Connect Simplicity is indeed a better option particularly as it is not increasing in price for 2021. It remains at €1360 for the coming year beginning 01/01/2021. For us as a couple it is now €350 cheaper than Simplicity. The hospital excess is €100 as opposed to €50. However this is offset by not having any excess on day-to-day expenses. It seems to be a good alternative to Simplicity.

Nearly that time of the year again for renewal Laya Connect Simplicity has increased by just over €100.
Is there any other plans from Laya that offer similar cover but are cheaper?
