Kitchen planning. Cooker next to sink?

Trying to plan a kitchen with very limited space. From a safety point of view can a cooker (hob/single oven) be placed next to a sink or dishwasher. Any regulations pertaining to this?
 
i dont think there are any regulations in Ireland relating to this. if the hob is going next to the sink try, if possible to put the drainer on that side so that you can put things from the oven left and right . the only real problem is when cutting out for the sink and the hob that there is enough w/top left in between to support them both.
make sure your sink is PROPERLY EARTHED
 
If you are getting a sink with a draining board to the side, make sure the draining board is to the side of the hob.
