It's a few years since we were there for a long weekend but we enjoyed it - especially as it was dry!
The curving beach is lovely, there are a few good pubs - Naughtons is not to be missed, great food and atmosphere. The kids loved Waterworld, spent hours there on the big slide.
We went for a drive to Ailwee Cave, think it took about an hour. You're also within driving distance of the Cliffs of Moher.
We played pitch and putt there too which the kids enjoyed.
Definitely good for a short break, even if it's raining! Not sure I'd want to be there for a whole week of rain though
