I'm originally from kilcullen, moved to Dublin 20 years ago but go back regularly. I am biased ,but it is a great place to bring up a family (If that is your plan) . Great community spirit with good primary and secondary school. Has average pubs, an excellent Theatre and the best Butchers Shop(Nolans) in Leinster. 5 Miles from Newbridge and 7 from Naas. No real shopping worth talking about but it's proximity to Newbridge in this regard is a big plus. The town has an outstanding Sports Complex with numerous recreation facilities in and surrounding it(well above the norm for a town of it's size). It is bypassed and has easy access to the N7. With the new N7 due for completion soon in light traffic it is only 40 Minutes from Dublin. So I say jump.
