Key Post: Garden Centres

Anyone got recommendations for garden centres in Dublin (or indeed anywhere else in the country) for value, selection, service?

I recommend Johnstown Garden Centre for tree selection. They're not cheap but they've a very good selection and pleasant service.

Newlands Cross has a huge variety of garden accessories but again, not cheap.

None of them can beat the service and friendliness of my local garden shop Forest Flame on the Lower Kimmage Road. As you would expect of a small shop, they're not the cheapest but they make up for it in helpfullness and service.

B&Q have a very impressive range of plants, especially for water gardens and ponds which are difficult to supply except from specialist shops. Pretty ok value too.

Anyone else ... ?

Garden centres

I will give a nod to a few in the midlands ...

O'Mearas in Mullingar ... huge range ... good service ... lots of mature trees and unusual plants

Castle Forbes in Longford ... only open weekdays but very good plants (well cared for and healthy)

Ardcarne in Roscommon or Boyle ... both excellent ... good prices and knowledgable staff ... will order plants in if required.

Re: Garden centres

Hi,

Have to mention Future Forests down in Cork. They do mail order, very good value and service and staff were extremely helpful.

Was in Gardenworks in Clonee at the weekend - nice spot if slightly overpriced.
