Hi All,

I am going to start working for the first time in Ireland. My wife is already working from the last 2 months.

I went to the revenue office and they gave us Form 12A and another form for joint assessment. I don't understand what is the best option for us, whether tax credits divided divided equally or tax credit allocated to the assessable spouse? I will be earning 38K euros/year and my wife is on minimum wage. What is the best option for us?

I am attaching the picture of the form here.

And estimated income for the current tax year is the income before or after taxes?

Please help us with your advice.

Thank you.

Allocate €41K of rate band to you (max you can transfer between spouses) and the married tax credit. Your wife should get the balance and her PAYE allowance.

When income is asked for Ireland (esp for tax purposes) it is normally the gross income. Net income is normally asked by banks etc for loan purposes.

So I should write in this form attached that I (earning 39000) am the assessable spouse in the year 2014??
Is this correct please (?
