I've a quick question on joint assesment. My wife recently gave up work to look after the kids and we are now a 1 income family.

In terms of the tax credits I know we get 3520 which is 2 * 1760.

But for the PAYE tax credit do we also get 2 * 1760 = 3520 or becasue we have one income doe we only get 1760?

If this is the case does the tax system not favour 2 incomes?

Also the cut off point is 43,000. But 2 income people would cut of at a combined of 68,000. Is this also not preferential to the 2 income household?

Yes you're right on both of them points. Your wife is only entitled to a P.A.Y.E credit if she is working. It is not transferrable to you.
