Jobseekers Benefit was Class S PRSI now Class A

friend of mine was self employed for 6 years paying full 52 weeks Class S PRSI every year as proprietary director of small family business
No longer a director but has been employed as an employee in same business paying Class A since 01 Jan 23
Business is very slow so he will be let go at the end of April 23, business will continue but on a smaller scale
Is he entitled to Jobseekers Benefit until he finds a job?

On paper, yes.

The transition in PRSI class looks a little odd however and he may be asked to justify the transition from proprietary director to employee within the same firm at the start of the tear

It should be linked to some change in responsibilities and/or ownership.

He can claim "Jobseekers Benefit Self employed".
