Job Descriptions - picked on?

Hi,

I work for a company in a particular department where my Senior Manager gave me the title of Senior Coordinator. A new manager started in the company last year she called me and a colleague in who works in a different department to me, she gave us two job descriptions and told us to pick which one we wanted to do. This was not an option as our roles are competly different as is our experience and college education. Obvisiously we have stayed in our own roles with particular changes. Shouldn’t she have called us in separately not like that?
This manager does not like either of the two of us and is watching everything we do.. everything... These job descriptions did not have any signatures and none of us signed them, she had taken out my ‘senior’ title. The Senior manager never stands up for his team and we think he is afraid of this new manager. I don’t even know if he knows this happened, he will stand behind her anyway.
Do these forms stand? What can we do?

Re: Job Descriptions - picked on??

Is the problem that your job title is changing or that you are being asked to do a different job?
If you call the cleaner in an office the senior hygiene engineer or the VP for generated waste disposal they are still the cleaner. Unless the title ‘senior’ has some standing within a company handbook or general employment rules then it is a meaningless title conferred in order to make staff feel better instead of paying them more.

Why dont ya flag it up with HR? Explain your case to her thoughtfully and ask her to explain why you had to do this. Thats what I would do.
