Job change

Hi there

I 32 and thinking of changing careers from IT to doing an electricians apprenticeship.


Im based in Cork IT jobs are hard enough to come by and would like to do this apprentship. Easier to get jobs and like to do work that involves physical work and using my hands

Should i take this oppertunity have another income to suppliment my apprentice rates of pay as i understand these are low

Hi there

Your right to change if change is what you want. Why not try some part time work at weekends etc bars restaurants etc this would bring your income up a bit. But the easiest way is to cut back on your outgoings if you can e.g sell the car, cut out sky sports, cut down on the visits to the pub etc etc
