iTunes and Windows 2000

Does anybody know if iTunes works on Windows 2000. A friend asked as he is having difficulty.
 
Aha! His problem seems to be that Windows 2000 can only run iTunes 7.3.2 and the iPod that he is trying to link in is looking for iTunes 7.4 or later. It looks like there is no way around this other than upgrading 2000 to XP. Unless somebody knows of a workaround here.
