Issue with gutters at boundary between houses

A Leak has appears at the join between gutters on my Semi-detached immediately over the boundary wall with my neighbour. Because of the prevailing wind the water seems to fall mostly on his side.

He is claiminng it is my responsibility while I am happy to share the effort/cost of repair as I see it as a boundary issue..

To be quiet honest he a nuisance but I would prefer the gutter to be fixed but not at all my cost.

When it was first discussed I agreed to assist and even bought the materials on the basis he provide the ladder and access. I can't get to the leak from my garden because there is an oil tank below it.

The ladder he provided was dangerous and I couldn't use it - he now wants me to rent a ladder at my cost to fix it. He is also trying to suggest that as my facia is newer that I must have caused it but it has been there for more than ten years without issue so it must just be wear and tear etc.

He rents his house (another rental neighbour horror story) and claims that if anybody slips at the back of his property because of the water I would be liable.

Does anybody know where the respojnsibility would be for
a) to fix this,
b) any accident caused from water flowing into his property.

Any lawers out there ?
Any body have a similar issue

Flood Tribunals
Leaky Landlord etc
All Puns deserve to stay where they are - in the gutter :)

Any real advice :D

Gutter joints can fail and unfortunately he may well be correct when he says it was caused by your people when they replaced the fascia.
Consider contacting the people who did this for you if it was a company.

Have your oil tank installation assessed for compliance with the regulations - it sounds very close to the house and may pose a fire risk.

Put everything it writing from now on.
