ISOFIX mounting broken

Hi, just wondering what peoples opinions are on this. One of the car seats in my wifes car seemed to come loose at the weekend. After checking it, the Isofix mounting or anchor point in the card seat, just seemed to shear off and become detached from the car.

It was still attached to the childs seat where the isofix anchor the the childs seat are coupled.

The car was bought from new and is still under oringal warranty. My wife brought the car back into the main dealer of prucahse, and they said unfortunately the fitting appears to be slightly bent and so this is not covered under warranty. It would cost a pretty penny to get this fixed outside of warranty.

Is this a reasonable assessment by the dealer?

I would get on to the manufacturer directly. If it just shore off like that it seems like a serious safety issue and should be rectified by the manufacturer.

Have you googled the issue with the make and model of your car?

The metal looks torn which I imagine would only happen with serious force or if was defective.

I would suggest it is a Faulty fixing.
It is likely one side of the fixing broke first, the seat pulling off the fixing for some time with one side detached would bend the fixing and eventually the second side snapped.
I would not accept the dealer's excuse and ask them to look at it again.
An independent engineers report could be considered but that will cost.

This strikes me as flippant, surely its designed to withstand a good degree of pressure and still maintain integrity, it would require a lot of force to shear off, can you recollect if there was an occasion this could have happened, moving furniture etc?

If not I'd push back on this....what is the car make?

I remember looking into getting a Ford Focus fitted with iso fix points a good few years back. It was a dealer fit option from new, so I'm wondering if this was incorrectly fitted by the dealer.

The anchor point is only connected to the car by the centre flat metal part, as opposed to the outer round bits. So there is not much there really in the

I am no expert, but from looking at the M Cat standards, which I think govern this, the lower anchor points need to be able to take a load of 1350 N horizontally and vertically and not break or fracture (1350 N is about 137 KGs).

I spoke briefly to an automotive engineer on the phone and he reckoned this should not have happened. I am going to try and go into the garage tomorrow and speak to the boss if he is there.
