Have any of you AAM'ers or your friends been to the Isle of Arran off the West Coast of Scotland. Myself and a couple of mates are planning to go there in August and were wondering if anyone have any experience of it.

I've been lucky enough to visit Arran many times.
A truly beautiful place, and in many ways a land that time forgot. Think Connemara with higher mountains!
Many pleasant villages with great pubs & restaurants, generally very friendly people. Lots of great seaside & hill walks or drives. August may be fairly busy with Glasgow folk visiting their holiday homes & playing golf, but there's plenty of space for all. If you find a restaurant you really like though - may be as well to book the day before to get a table at the time you want.
On the off-chance you get itchy feet, there's a small ferry from Lochranza at the north of the island which takes you over to the Mull of Kintyre. a few nice villages (Tarbert in particular) & more stunning scenery.
Have a look at www.visitarran.net
Enjoy!

Ta Jock, you have just whetted my appetite even more.:)
