Happened to drop down to my local bank today and like several other customers was surprised that they are still closed.

Surely Christmas Day and Stephens Day were carried over to Monday & Tuesday but seems ridiculous that banks are still not open on Wednesday?

Yes it is a bank holiday today as you can see on the Irish Bankers Federation Webpage .

And just to be pepared next week Monday is one too.

Working for a bank must be fun these days ;-)

THanks Brain, but how do they still make those enormous profits if they are never open?

Let's see they took you money for let's say your visa bill on Friday morning from you account and it takes 3 business days to get credited to your visa which will be let's see Tuesday next week. So it will be 11 days later on which the banks work with the money as they work internationaly. So do this with a couple of thousend payments and you make good money, not to mention that you acutaly might hit a couple of late payment fees because it did not reach in time for the cut off day...

Because they don't make money from the counter service. The guy who wants a mortgage will come back tomorrow.
