Hi all, got a quote today for tiling 37sm - porcelain tiles, fitting only, incl skirting - 1,700e. Adhesive & grout extra. Is this reasonable?

This is a crazy price. Allowing 200€ to fit skirting the tiling is costing €40/sq m which is more than double you should be paying. I got porcelain tiles laid recently for €15/m. Any good tiler should be no more than €20/m in the current climate.

Oops, sorry forgot to mention lifting old tiles (approx 18sm) and levelling floor if needed. I've no idea if this is major work. Thanks builder ed for early response.

most tilers will charge 15 euro per square metre, i have afriend one and he is going to charge me 12 euro for a job, it is tradional for you to supply the grout and adhesiveand this is usually got a shop at time of purchase of tiles

We got polished porcelain tiles for our kitchen floor, 600mm * 300mm.

I took off the old tiles from half the floor. Very messy job. I hired a kango and drilled them off. Sweat and pain.

The tiler poured self-levelling compound over the whole floor.

He charged 20 euro per square yard = 600 euro + 100 euro for pouring and smoothing the compound = 700 euro.
