The only property we own is our home. Its very ard to put a current value on it. We Assume 750K, no mortgage, or bank interst. If I sold it under the current tax rules, am I liable to tax, 1...if i move abroad or 2 day in Ireland and buy smaller house. I have a progressive disability

There is no CGT on sale of one's principal private residence and grounds of up to one acre. ( provided occupied as your residence throughout) It does not matter whether you buy another property or not, in Ireland or abroad.

Revenue have guidance [broken link removed] ( about halfway down page see "exemptions & reliefs" )

Thats great Graham 07, I did not think there was, but could not find the revenue guideline's

Thanks

Not based but spending increasing time there. Heading back out in 4 wks. Try & do my bit for the old tourism though :D. PB is nice & laid back, PdC more lively. Weather mad hot lately, think PB hit over 40 about 2 weeks back for a few days. Rain hammering off the roof here now so can't wait.
