Is it worth bringing copper pipes etc down to a srapyard?

Had lots of plumbing work done and lots of unused old pipes and a cylinder are currently lying in my garden! Was going to throw the stuff into a skip but the plumbers said to bring it down to a scrapyard as I'd get some money for it?

Copper is at a very low price at the moment..best hold onto it for a while.Well worth bringing to scrap yard when price increases.
 
hold on to it for as long as possible price will rise again at the moment its about 30 euro for an old cylinder or around 13 euro a stone
 
I "donated" mine to my local builder - he puts it to his Xmas party for his team. In fairness, he also supports alot of the local groups & he's not a rip off merchant!!

Do you really want to hold onto it until it goes up by 10 or 20% and you get an extra few quid, but have it sitting around you house until then ???
 
Well, at the moment it's sitting in my garden, and it's filled up to the max with copper pipes. I might just put a bag over it and hide it behind the shed till better times come along :)
 
Think Davy Jones is right - if you do not need the money straight away, I would hold on for a while yet.

Copper is some half the price it was a few months ago and at the very least it is due a bit of a bounce.

Rallied strongly yesterday and was up some 6.5% on the day:
