as above would you classify a backpack as a 'man bag'?
nope
If I see a guy with a backpack and a suit I assume he's parked his bike somewhere.
What about commuters with laptops?
I have a nice John Rocha bag with a single strap, small pocket for a mobile and zipped inside pockets for a wallet/book etc, that my wife bought me. Is that a man-bag?![]()

What about commuters with laptops?
I commute and use a laptop bag to carry around a load of stuff, but no laptop.
- newspaper
- book
- work stuff to not look over at home
- portable media player & headphones
- PDA
- chequebook
Wallet, keys & phone are generally in jacket/trouser pockets.
To all intents and purposes, it's a handbag but I can only admit that through the anonymity of a message board![]()
Is that a backpack laptop bag or one of the 'messenger bag' type laptop bags? You're starting to worry me now.
