My wife was with Glohealth but she has been changed to Irish Life Best Smart plan at €1366 per year.Had a look at the comparison advice but just confused.Our old policy was less than €100 per month but the new IL one comes in at €114 per month.We didn't get any group discount and she just wants a basic policy like our old one without maternity or travel insurance.Any ideas or help please?TIA Kenbo
 
Thanks Snowy B renewal date 14/06/17 it's for my wife only age 56 and she only wants semi private in a private hospital not high tech and with a middle excess figure a basic level of cover.Kenbo
 
The following plans are worth considering with Laya healthcare and VHI healthcare;

1. Laya Essential Health 300; price 873pa; public, private and Beacon hospital covered, private excess 300 x 2 max per year, private day case
excess 125 per visit. Limited day to day cover.

2. VHI PMI 44 16; price 1112pa; public, private and 3 hi-tech hospitals covered, private/hi-tech excess 150 per admission, private/hi-tech
day case excess 150 per visit. Limited day to day.

3. VHI PMI 43 16; price 1171pa; public, privage and 3 hi-tech hospitals covered, private/hi-tech excess 150 per admission, day case excess
50 per visit, good day to day cover included.

Note; Irish Life have a list of price increases coming into effect from 12 June 2017.
The following 2 plans are worth considering including a price increase from above date.

1. Net Most Plan; price 1055pa; public and private hospital cover, excess 300 per admission, 50 excess per day case. Limited day to day cover.

2. Kick Off Upgrade; price 1082pa; public, private and some Beacon hospital cover included. excess 300 per admission or 50 per day case visit,
limited day to day cover.

Thanks Snowyb that is very welcome as we find the area so confusing.We are in Cork so don't know if the Beacon is relevant or not.Laya Plan looks good as basic cover.Kenbo
 
Yes, Laya Essential Health 300 would be suitable for your wife as all public and private hospitals are covered.
Beacon is an added bonus but would not be a priority in her case due to location.

Note; there is a 3% charge if you pay by installments. Price 873 + 3%(24) = 897.
This plan ticks all the boxes required and is a good choice.
